Topeka St. Patrick’s Day 2011

One of the great things about living in Topeka is that the city is big enough to have many of the conveniences of a bigger city but when there is an event like a parade you find yourself running into many people you know!

If you are looking for your image that I took at the parade you can find all the images posted on our Harrington Photography, llc Facebook Fan Page by clicking here. Feel free to tag yourselves and the images should be of a high enough resolution so that you are able to download the image(s) and have them printed into a 4×6 so you can remember the fun of St. Patrick’s Day 2011!

Topeka Carnival Supply

As St. Patrick’s Day approaches this coming Thursday if you find yourself in need of beads for the parade you need to visit the Topeka Carnival Supply located in North Topeka. The guy that runs it is really nice and I have a feeling that he would really appreciate your business. If you have never been in the store you really owe it to yourself to visit the store and look around. The store is literally packed to the rafters with all kinds of costumes, beads, cotton candy machines, gag gifts and even some stage makeup. If you don’t see it just ask and he probably has it! So go over the bridge and check out Topeka Carnival Supply it is located just catty corner (can you tell I’m from Kansas?) from Brad’s Corner Cafe (a whole other post soon)!

Spring Has Sprung In Topeka!

A couple of days ago I blogged about taking a walk through Gage Park here in Topeka. That day it was around 40 degrees and cloudy. Well what a difference two days makes here in T-town! Today I go for the same walk and it’s a little over 70 degrees and sunny! I get to Gage Park and it looks like memorial day! Their are people everywhere playing horse shoes, baseball, swinging and the parking lot at the zoo was near capacity! What a difference 30 degrees makes. It is plain to see that the fine citizens of Topeka, Ks. were just about fed up with the winter weather and were aching for an opportunity to get outside. Hopefully we’ll have a couple more of these beautiful days before we get the inevitable cold snap once or twice more before spring arrives to stay!

Spring is coming to Topeka!

Brisk walk to and around the Rose Garden area at Gage Park here in Topeka today (about 38 degrees) but there are definitely signs of spring coming up. It won’t be long now before Gage Park will be full of people picnicking, playing softball and swimming! Oh; how I love summer but I also like having the park in the winter all to myself as well!  Here are a couple of photos of the first signs of the flowers of spring.
